DeHaan shotguns guns are handcrafted exclusively for us by the Huglu Cooperative in Huglu, Turkey. This factory has been in business for almost 100 years and takes great pride in their craftsmanship. Because of the Turkish economy and the relative strength of the US dollar, we can get a fantastic bargain on these fine shotguns.
Because of our pricing structure, we generally do not use dealers, but instead sell direct to customers. We have a 7-day inspection period, so you can order with complete confidence you will be delighted with the gun (please see our "Prices and Ordering" web page for details).
We carry a large inventory and we can generally ship your gun within 24 hours of receiving the complete order. We ship UPS ground, but we can arrange faster shipping if necessary.
We make our own choke tubes. Although we cannot authorize use of other brands, we have found that Beretta style Mobile Choke tubes (and after-market tubes for Beretta)in 12 ga have the same threading, and many of our customers are using them with great success. (We have heard the 20 ga are not compatible due to Beretta's unusual thread pitch.) You should test pattern any choke you use to check what type of pattern you get with your gun and ammunition.
The barrels on all our models are all chrome-lined and are compatible with modern commercial steel (and other non-toxic) loads. With regards to choke tubes, you should not use steel in our Modified, IM, or Full standard chokes. You may get bad patterns (donut pattern) and even worse, it is possible to stretch and damage the choke tubes (as steel does not compress or shift/flow as well as lead). This is especially true with the largest steel shot, frequently used to for geese. Steel stays very spherical and generally patterns much tighter than lead, so you can use one to two choke sizes more open and get patterns equivalent to lead. Improved cylinder works very well for most ducks and geese. You can purchase special steel shot chokes made for tighter constrictions than IC.
We do carry left-handed guns U2 and S2 models in 12 & 20 ga with 28" bbls in our regular inventory models. Also, our SGR Custom Deluxe model guns are all custom ordered and are therefore available in the left-hand, but none of our other regular models are available in the left-hand. Unfortunately the demand is just not large enough. I will say though that we have many left handed customers shooting some of our right-handed guns very well (lefties seemed to be very adaptable).
Only our SGr Custom models can be made with custom stock dimensions. Our regular models all have 14.5" Length of Pull. If you need one shorter, then we suggest you have a local competent gunsmith measure and shorten the stock. It is a quite simple operation and usually costs about $25 - $50. You can also lengthen the stock by adding a spacer between the recoil pad and the stock.
The name "beavertail" roughly describes the cross-sectional shape of this forearm. This shape forearm comes about halfway up the sides of the barrels, whereas the semi-splinter of the English straight stock does not come around the barrels much.

You should call us to explain the problem. If service is needed please call us. We discuss the problem and will ask you to package up the gun securely and well padded (double boxing is required) and include a note explaining the problem. Ship the gun to our repair facilities here in Idaho and we take care of the rest. We have a large supply of parts here, and we generally can quickly repair, test-fire, and return the gun back to you. If the problem is something very simple (e.g. broken firing pin) you may elect to have us mail you the part and you take care of having the part installed locally.
You can check the three different databases we have linked at the bottom of our "Prices and Ordering" web page. Just click on the link there and enter your location and it will give a listing of transfer agents near you, what they charge, and how to get in contact with them.
The credit card companies all charge us a significant fee when we take a credit card payment. They threatened to sue if we charge customers any special kind of fee for credit card payments. We are a very low profit margin company and we could not absorb this cost. Also we do not want to raise prices so cash paying customers pay more so others can use credit cards. We are dedicated to bringing customers the best possible gun for the lowest cost, and unfortunately this precludes credit card payments. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
The pad is predominately made of a soft recoil-absorbent rubber, but the top corner radius is made of a smooth plastic so it will not snag on your jacket when mounting the gun.

Is is a very comfortable pad and we use it even for heavy-duty competition shooting.
Only the SGr Custom models can be ordered with upgraded wood options.
Only our SGr Custom models can be ordered with extra barrels sets. Extra barrel sets are not available for our regular models.
Auto-ejectors have a spring-loaded device which ejects empty shells about 10 feet in back of you when you open the gun. Extractors merely lift the shells up about 1/2" and you can very easily pluck them out with your fingers. Neither is necessarily better and it is purely a personal choice, but many find it easier not to chase/find/pickup empties and therefore select extractors.
Yes, both 2-3/4" and 3" shells function perfectly fine in a 3" chamber.
The barrel selector on our O/U and SxS are on the safety - shift it left or right to choose which barrel fires first.
Porting is where a series of specially designed small holes are electrically made in the barrels near the muzzle. The barrels are ported for two reasons, both related to recoil: 1) it reduces felt recoil by taking some of the expanding powder gas and "venting" it so it slows/reduces recoil. 2) it reduces "muzzle jump" (where your barrels may jump upward on the shot) so you can recover and get a second shot off quicker. Both issues can be significant factors in your particular shooting. The tradeoffs are that the muzzle blast noise is more noticeable to people standing beside you, and there is a bit of burned powder residue on the barrels and ports that must be cleaned periodically. There is still debate regarding porting, (some love it, some don't) and it comes down to personal preference.
Unfortunately we cannot export guns to anywhere outside the U.S.
