Features of DeHaan Shotguns

DeHaan shotguns are handcrafted to our specifications at a cooperative factory in Turkey. Unlike most modern shotguns, DeHaan shotguns are not mass-produced. Rather each is made on order, handcrafted one at a time with great attention to every detail. You will find the wood inletting (wood-to-metal fit) nearly perfect. All engraving is painstakingly crafted by Masters in the art using the traditional hammer-and-chisel method. The close, modern machining tolerances produce a nice, tight action that has no slop, providing generations of enjoyment.

The Turkish walnut used on our stocks is renowned as the finest stock-making wood in the world. I believe you will find the quality of DeHaan shotguns greatly surpasses its competitors the world over, yet because of the current Turkish economy, our shotguns are an extremely good value for the dollar. Our customers receive a truly individually crafted work of art at an affordable price.

About the DeHaan Shotgun Company

DeHaan shotguns' purpose is to provide a premium grade line of shotguns at a truly affordable cost. Nowhere else can you find a genuinely handcrafted gun with such painstaking attention to details at such a low price. Our company started out in 1999. Our drive to constantly improve our product has ultimately led us to rename our company under our family name "DeHaan", which is Dutch for "the rooster", "the top bird". Our goal is to provide the best guns available at the best price possible. At DeHaan Shotguns we believe it is not what you pay, it is what you get.

Absolute customer satisfaction was a founding principle of our company in 1999, and to this day it is our guide and only standard to measure success. For this reason we offer a NO RISK purchase guarantee and a 2-year parts and labor warranty on all the guns we sell.

We have our guns exclusively made for us and we sell directly to the public to give them the best deal possible. We are based in southeastern Idaho in the town of Rigby, right in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Deer, moose, elk, and game birds literally surround the shop. Thus we are constantly inspired by God's natural beauty, and this is similarly reflected in the materials and craftsmanship of our shotguns.

About Mark DeHaan, the proprietor of DeHaan Shotguns
How did DeHaan shotguns start? The full story is long, but basically I have always liked fine shotguns ever since I started toting a gun in the field after birds as a youth. Truly fine guns seem to physically capture the soul of hunting much like a good point or retrieve ethereally captures the spirit of the sport. I have long believed that every true sportsman/woman deeply desires to own at least one fine gun in their lifetime (and one fine gun dog!). I know very well that most of us cannot fulfill that dream because of limited financial resources. And so we look, read, and dream. When I happened to stumble across my first shotgun made by the cooperative factory in Turkey I was incredulous at the fine craftsmanship for the price. After long and careful evaluation and testing, we started importing and marketing these fine shotguns. After further product development and refinement we ultimately came up with DeHaan shotguns. I now know our shotguns are making dreams come true. Our customer's appreciation of owning our guns is the real reward for our hard work.

"Hi Mark,
The .410 SGr is here and it is an absolute delight. The workmanship is not only better than I dared hope-- it is better than on more expensive guns I have seen, and owned! The wood is astonishing, maybe the best figure on any gun I have ever owned including some famous-make old-timers, and the finish is excellent. These are not only the best guns for the money I have seen, as everyone says-- they are damn nice guns, period. This one is a keeper."
- Steve Bodio     Shotgun aficionado, author of "Good Guns: A Celebration of Fine Sporting Arms" and "Good Guns Again" and "Legendary Sporting Guns", past editor Gray's Sporting Journal, contributing writer to Double Gun Journal
"The balance, feel and handling of the DeHaan S0 28 gauge is exceptional .... one of the best handling 28 side-by-sides I've ever used. A delight to shoot."   "the guns are amazing values for the quality and performance delivered."
- Bruce Buck     Gun Reviewer for Shooting Sportsman Magazine, Jan/Feb 2005 issue
"The first things that strike you are the quality look of the guns and the very reasonable prices. The model U2E tested was very comfortable to shoot and felt right. I liked it. The design looks to be a very sturdy setup. The action clean and simple. All visible parts were well-machined and easy to get at for replacement or cleaning. Wood-to-metal fit was very good. The wood was above average for any comparably priced gun. Fit and finish was very good. This is one gun you may never have heard of before that you should definitely find out about."

"The gun is very well fitted and finished, and appears to be made from quality materials. The SO, to me, just plain feels right. The combination of weight, balance, and overall feel makes the SO a joy to carry and shoot. In fact, the SO has the looks and feel of shotguns costing thousands of dollars more. For a really good double-barreled shotgun that won't break the bank, I recommend the SO."

"the appearance of the gun is quite striking ... dramatic engraving, and great wood. Well balanced... handling that was controlled and steady but never ponderous. The gun flowed very sweetly once on the move. One of the best grips I have encountered. Mechanically the gun worked well with no obvious faults to report. The trigger is excellent.   I believe it will stand comparison with any gun in the sub-$2,000 market and more than hold its own.""

Durable? How about 6,950 rounds in 24 hours without a single problem?
On June 28 - 29, 2002 five members of the Hamilton, Montana Gun Club set a new world record by shooting more than 34,750 registered doubles trap targets in 24 hours! Three of the shooters used DeHaan shotguns. Immediately after finishing the gruelling task of each firing nearly 7,000 rounds over 24 hours, the shooters turned and said "You ought to be dang proud of your guns!"   Click here for more of the story

Your shotguns and the quality they offer are untouchable as for price and quality."
- Doug G.    Redmond, Washington
I just wanted to tell you what a hit my new (U2) gun is - quality, price, etc. Your guarantee is why I purchased the gun without first holding it in my hands - the quality of the gun is why I kept it and plan to use it for years to come."
- Patrick D.    Phoenix, Arizona
Mr. DeHaan's commitment to customer satisfaction and the high level of personal service he provides are truly impressive.
- Richard M.    Idaho Falls, Idaho
When I started looking at O/U's I searched every gun store in town. I looked at all the major brands and most of the off name stuff too. I couldn't find anything that compared to the U1E for less than $1200.00. The gun is a great buy and Mark is one of the few people I have dealt with, at a distance, that I trust.
- Korey H.    Salt Lake City, Utah
HI! The first time out with the shotgun (U4E Trap) I shot some skeet... first round 25, second round 24 -missed one. then I went down to the trap range , changed the chokes tubes, and bang 50 straight. Let me sum-up your shotgun.....SWEET!!!!! THANK'S AGAIN.
- Robert D.     West Mifflin, Pennsylvania
Received my new 28 gage SxS last night. Beautiful piece of work. It far exceeds my expectations and is as good or better than Italian and Spanish guns costing 4 times as much. Thanks again, I am very pleased.
- Bob B.     Rochester, Michigan
dear sir, i thank you for the gun that was shipped to me. i love to bird hunt in west virginia, and it's hard to find a good deal on an over/under in the area. at first i was reluctant to buy the gun over the internet, but i thought i would take a chance and i'm glad that i did. the gun is the same quality as the other name brands, but a fraction of the cost. i went clay shooting yesterday, with this gun and couldn't believe how well i shot with it, especially the first time. i'm looking forward to bagging many birds with this gun in the future. i just wanted to write you and tell you how much i appreaciate this gun, "for the price, quality, and most important accuracy".
- Billy M.     Logan, West Virginia
Dear Mr. DeHaan, I am writing you about my recent purchase of a U1 12 gauge over and under shotgun. I started looking for a quality over and under shotgun with an affordable price. I looked at many different brands and found the price to be in the $1000.00 range. I continued looking for a more affordable price and fortunately found your company on the Internet. While I was looking at the site I was impressed with the web page design and the ease in locating the different models that were for sale. Next I was impressed with the workmanship of the firearms and finally the price. I ordered the U1 over and under and within the week had it in my hands. I took the shotgun out and was very impressed with the workmanship and the way it handled. I have shown my U1 to several friends that shoot trap and sporting clays. These guys own some of the more expensive over and under trap guns on the market. Without exception they were impressed with the quality and especially the price in the weapon. Thank you for your friendly advice and assistance in the purchase of my shotgun. Sincerely,
- Skott M.     Kooskia, Idaho
Just a note to tell you how pleased I am with my 20 bore S2 purchase. Fantastic! Much better than I expected and every bit the wing shooting gun my AYA and Merkel are. I am so pleased with the value that I am interested in buying a matched 5 piece set (12 - .410 bores). Thanks and best regards,
- Fred O.      Washington
Mark, I just wanted to say that I received the U4E Trap gun and as promised it is beautiful. Even more important it shoots great. The balance, fit and finish are all excellant. After only a hundred or so shots, it is almost broken in and I am consitantly shooting good scores. Everyone who sees it wants to know more about it. I am sure you will be selling many more in the future. Thank you very much,
- Jim A.     Deerfield, Illinois
My wife really likes her new gun (U2 20 ga.). It immediately improved her score over her Browning. And my gunsmith looked at it and said it was a very well made gun- "Real solid."
- Harold D.     Grassy Lake, Michigan
I received my shotgun and am impressed with it. My gun dealer was also suprised and impressed with the quality of the gun. I have been looking for a good 28 gauge for some time, and I think that your past statements on the quality and craftsmanship (and affordability) of your guns have been affirmed now that I have this shotgun. Thanks,
- Will H.      Waco, Texas
I received my new shotgun (U1E 20 ga) last Friday. Man, what a treat! It is absolutely one of the most beautifully hand-crafted guns I have seen. And it handles like a $5,000 shotgun. There is not one bit of disappointment in any of the aspects of the shotgun and service. Thanks.
- Stan L.     San Jose, California
I picked up my gun last week, looks great. I'm real satisfied with it. I thought the wood looked top-notch. I took my gun with me to Alabama for Thanksgiving, and had lots of friends very interested in buying one of your guns. Word is getting around about these great guns.
- Clint P.     Prairieville, Louisiana
Dear DeHaan Shotguns, I just wanted to say thank you. I sold a 20 ga. Rizzini and upgraded to your 28 ga. S0 that I absolutely love!! I've been truly deadly on doves with this 28 ga. and have even been taking shots out further than I ever did with my 20 ga. I think it has something to do with confidence. This little gun is a dream. I shoot it better than any other gun I own, probably because I like it better. It just feels right shooting a double trigger SxS at the birds I love (doves and snipe). It's just such a joy to carry and shoot. Anyway, thanks again for bringing in such a wonderful little gun for such a reasonable price.
- John P.      Vero Beach, Florida
I have been shooting one of your S2s for several years now, and absolutely love it. Beautiful gun, fits me very well, and the balance is great. Kudos on selling a great gun at a great price. Sincerely,
- Gene      Littleton, Colorado
Mr. DeHaan, I am writing a quick note to let you know how please I am with my new S2 side by side 20 G. I took it quail hunting on a private plantation last week and it performed flawlessly. I handled well in the field, was quick on the birds and just a joy to carry. I was the envy of several hunter who felt quite a bit of buyers' remorse as they carried their Merkels and Grullas costing 5 to 10 times as much with no commensurate benefit. It is a beautiful gun and I am already saving up for one of the deluxe models. I look forward to doing business with you again. Sincerely,
- Woody W.      Georgia
